Castro Valley is a unincorporated city within Alameda County which means it is under The County Board of Supervisors regulatory authority. It features a picturesque community nestled in a quiet valley surrounded by tree covered rolling hills which has a rural flavor. This once a rural horse breeding community has a toned down pace of living and is enjoyed by many making it the largest unincorporated community in the state. The Castro Valley area of Alameda County is known as Eden Township which includes a BART station near downtown and the 580, 237 freeway junction. Down town is Castro Valley Blvd where most of the commercial business are in town. The Castro Valley Fall Festival, Annual Greek Festival, Castro Valley Car Show are just some of the events held in the down town area.

The Baywood neighborhood is located south of the 580 freeway going to the Hayward city limits. With an easy walk to BART and Castro Valley Blvd these modest priced homes are close to shopping and transportation. The mailing address is Castro Valley but the children attend the Hayward schools.
