Castro Valley is a unincorporated city within Alameda County which means it is under The County Board of Supervisors regulatory authority. It features a picturesque community nestled in a quiet valley surrounded by tree covered rolling hills which has a rural flavor.   This once a rural horse breeding community has a toned down pace of living and is enjoyed by many making it the largest unincorporated community in the state.  The Castro Valley area of Alameda County is known as Eden Township which includes a  BART station near downtown and the 580, 237 freeway junction. Many families are drawn to the highly ranked Castro Valley Schools.

Distinct Neighborhoods of Castro Valley  
Down town is Castro Valley Blvd where most of the commercial business are in town.  The Castro Valley Fall Festival, Annual Greek Festival, Castro Valley Car Show are just some of the events held in the down town area.

Parsons Estates in Castro Valley is made up of custom built homes on 1/4 -1/3 acres lots with 1600-2800 Square feet homes located near  Chabot Regional Park.  

Castro Valley Briar Ridge homes have around 1900 -2600 square foot living space, built on large lots in 1978 by Centex Homes have 4 bed room 2-3 bath with a 2 car garage.   They are managed by Associated Management Co. 925-462-2138  x 106  

Greenridge  Area Eichler homes built around 1960- 1964 all single level homes with lot sizes above 7,000 sq feet and the home size ranged from 1480 - 2380  having 3-5 bedrooms, 2 full baths.  Radiant heat, an Atrium and lots of  floor to ceiling glass really lets the landscaping feel like it is part of the home.  I love these home and I  (Scott Harrison) Realtor grew up in an Eichler built home. 


In Palomares Hills zip 94552 you will find homes between 1808 to 2875 square feet built between 1985 to 1999 have both single family and town homes which are populated by many professionals.  It is surrounded by a watershed -- lush tree-lined hills, and dense plants at the creek sides.  Phone the Community Clubhouse at 510-538-0573 The HOA is managed by Peachtree Management, Hayward, CA Phone: 510-487-3383 

Homes in Columbia built by Blackwell from 1980 to 1988 with homes from1779 square floor to 3084 with 2 -3 car garages.  The home owners association is managed by Walsh Property Management 510-888-8965 with a quarterly fee of about $144.00 includes community pool, playground and green belt.  These ridge top homes command some great views with the Gull Canyon Regional Recreation Area on both sides of this community.

Homes in Five Canyons (zip 94552) were built between 1996 and 2003 with homes between 1374 and 3500 square feet and 2-3 car garages.  Townhomes and Condominiums are between 918 - 1607 square feet with 1-2 car garages were built between 1996- 1997 Centex, Shea Homes. Silver Wing and Lyon builders built almost 1000 homes here.  The Five Canyons HOA include a club house, community pool, tennis courts and lots of open space.  Managed by Walsh Property Management 

Fox Ridge built between 1994 and 2000 these large 2800 - 3100 sq ft homes have 4 br 3 baths with 3 car garages.  Managed by BridgePort  925-824-2888 they have a small HOA fee. 

The Baywood neighborhood is located south of the 580 freeway going to the Hayward city limits. With an easy walk to BART and Castro Valley Blvd these modest priced homes are close to shopping and transportation.  The mailing address is Castro Valley but the children attend the Hayward schools.

Castro Valley has no city transfer taxes.
