Visit The Tropics Mobile Home Park in Union City and you will find affordable living for persons over 55 years of age.  This Senior park has an older section originally built out around 1974 and the newer section built out around 1977.  There are newer Modular homes sprinkled about the park.  There is lots of green space between the homes here which is uncommon in Alameda County. 
This park is owned by Millennium Housing a Non Profit organization which uses tax-exempt revenue bonds and other financing to acquire mobile-home parks which enables Millennium to operate at more affordable rents than other parks. 
A Homeowners’ Association or Resident Advisory Board allows residents to actively participate in set goals, priorities, rules, budgets, in an effort to operate the community in a cooperative fashion.  Millennium receives a small administrative fee, with the remaining cash flow reinvested in the Park as well as funding Rental Assistance Program  for low income and very low income residents.
